Kashif did a BSc in Textile Engineering from National Textile University, in his BSc he researched the problems related to the light fastness of P/C fabric dyed on Thermosol machine. After that he joined Masood Textiles Mills Faisalabad in the research and development department. In 2007 he joined the National Textile University Faisalabad as a lecturer. In 2010 he was awarded a master in mechanical engineering with specialization of textile technology from the University of Boras Sweden then he joined the National Textiles University for teaching before coming to Heriot-Watt University for PhD.

Currently Kashif is working on “PCM supported thermo-regulating textiles”. This project is funded by Heriot-Watt University under the name of CDI (Creativity, Design and Innovation) Theme. Phase Change Materials (PCM) are materials which change their phase from liquid to solid or vice versa with change in temperature. They are used for thermal management solution in textiles because of the automatic acclimatizing properties of fibers and textiles. He has prepared a PP monofilament yarn containing micro-encapsulated PCM successfully through melt spinning process. Some multi-filaments yarn is expected to be developed soon for which he is working on the modification of some part. Other parts of his research are the modeling and simulation for which the work is in progress.
